Abstract
The Agon ballet (1957) is the last one of the trilogy inspired in Greek mythology
(Apolo, 1928; Orpheus, 1948), created by George Balanchine and Igor Stravinsky.
The present work was developed to achieve two fundamental goals: (1) analyze the
components of the mentioned ballet related to the original agon idea of the ancient
Greek; (2) analyze the features of the Greek trilogy wich are still kept in this ballet.
The same structure will be followed in both cases: revise the concept of agon (both in
sports and in theater) and trilogy in the Ancient Greek World; higlight the classic
elements that are kept in this ballet proposal. The mayor conclusions will be presented
for both cases
