Abstract

Nanomaterials have had a rapid scientific development. And its technological applications are following a similar behavior. This accelerated growth is present in a myriad of commercial products used in our daily lives; such items enhance or make possible benefits unthinkable just ten years earlier. Its usefulness in all technological areas is undeniable, such as medicine, biology, energy, electronics, personal care, communications, and even in weapons and explosives. Unfortunately, this growth has not gone hand in hand with controlling its polluting and toxic effects on living beings and the environment. This article focuses on the toxicity of nanomaterials and procedures for eliminating or decreasing that toxicity. We do not encourage you to stop using nanomaterials; except in cases where the use of these is dangerous to health. It is advisable to take safety measures when synthesizing and using these materials; as well as advancing research to obtain more effective and safe nanomaterials.
