Abstract

In this manuscript, various topics related to Integrated Watershed Management were addressed from a critical and analytical perspective. Initially, the ideological component present in socio-environmental relations and the way in which it influences decisions and actions in environmental management was explored. In this regard, the importance of understanding and analyzing these ideologies to promote more coherent management was highlighted. Subsequently, the need to incorporate a philosophical perspective in environmental management was raised, considering elements of bioethics and epistemology as important aspects. This perspective seeks to transcend the emphasis of technical knowledge of the watershed and give greater relevance to the study and development of ethical principles that allow making assertive decisions in the interaction with the environment. In the same way, there was a reflection on the production of multidisciplinary knowledge considering various metadisciplinary aspects to generate and structure knowledge adequately to give an effective response to environmental problems. Finally, the notion of sustainability and its systemic relationship with the watershed were examined, firstly, clarifying the ideas surrounding the concept and finally, highlighting its importance as a configuration element in environmental governance models.
