Abstract
This ongoing struggle, which has persisted for over 150 years, has been led by prominent figures in the fight for women tennis players' rights, such as Charlotte “Lottie” Dod and Billie Jean King. The latter, known for her advocacy of equal pay, founded the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) in 1973 along with eight other American tennis players. Prior to her involvement, there were no women-only tournaments; women only competed in mixed events (Álvarez de la Cerda, 2023). Today, the WTA has over 2,500 players from more than 100 countries, who compete for over 150 million dollars in prize money (HOT Magazine, 2019).
