Abstract

Public space in Mexican cities is a relevant topic in the last years, reinforced by global changes in mobility paradigms in conceptual and normative levels. A great example of this is the Mobility Pyramid concept, that aims for hierarchies the street use by prioritizing certain users as the pedestrian and cycling for above the motorized mobility, even the public transport. Similar concepts as Vision Zero, that pretend to eradicate the road accidents and deaths, or the Complete Streets, that recommends the street redesign aiming for a space recovery and better walkability. The present paper is an effort of contributing to the progressive recovery concept emanated in the recent General Law of Human Settlements and Territorial Ordering, aside to present the studies and projects by the authors in the last year in Querétaro city, with the objective of continuing the public space recovery, using different methodologies as universal accessibility in architecture design, urban observations and counting methodology, geostatistical information analysis, and urban categorization among others.
