Abstract

In 2013 the Libraries General Management at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro with a multidisciplinary work team set up to create a Project for the improvement of spaces and services for the University’s Library System, searching in Design Thinking applied to libraries the support to give direction for such project. R e l a y i n g in tools for communication and collecting information, like user surveys and contests of ideas, for proposals to improve spaces and determining the priority changes, prototypes and implementations where generated for the informal reading areas. In a first moment, the changes in the test library were made by intuition, adjusting as seeing fit, but in according to this experience the next spaces where developed with Design Thinking methodology. After its application, the modification of spaces according to the necessities of the students and the vision of the libraries and its usage has been improved.
