Abstract
Phosphorus is one of the most important elements for the development of life on Earth, being vital for plants, animals and humans. Without it, the basic processes for the development of life, such as photosynthesis and energy use, would be impossible. This is why its monitoring in various areas, for example, in agriculture and medicine, is of utmost importance to know its levels and be able to act assertively. The following article presents biosensors as an interesting alternative for phosphate quantification due to their low cost and high selectivity to the analyte of interest, as well as a compilation of previous works that have developed biosensors through different recognition techniques and transducers.
