Author Guidelines

Digital Ciencia@UAQRO publishes original and unpublished works that are not simultaneously under review elsewhere or in the process of being published in other journals. Submissions must be the result of completed research or reflections related to the following fields: physical and mathematical sciences, behavioral and educational sciences, political and social sciences, chemical and biological sciences, legal sciences, health sciences and agricultural and livestock sciences.

Manuscripts must be submitted through the online platform of the journal (https://revistas.uaq.mx/index.php/ciencia/login) and will not be accepted by any other means. Once the manuscript has been received, a confirmation email will be sent to the authors and they will subsequently be informed of the outcome of the peer review process. Articles must meet the following specifications:

  • Content. The content must be focused on dissemination and research, and should follow the structure of a scientific article: introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusions. The types of submissions accepted are:
  • Research articles. These present the findings of completed research projects. They are supported by a rigorous literature review and a sound methodology.
  • Review articles. “This is a type of scientific article which, without presenting original research, compiles the most relevant information on a specific topic. Its purpose is to examine the published literature and place it within a certain perspective" (Vera, 2009, p. 63).

It is important to note that essays, reviews and opinion articles are not accepted, nor are articles lacking a robust theoretical and methodological foundation.

  • Language. Only manuscripts in Spanish are accepted.
  • Submission format. Electronic files must be submitted in Word or WordPerfect format. Additionally, an electronic file must be submitted including the authors’ names, ORCID, title of the work, institutional affiliation, address, ‘phone number, CV (three to five lines) and email address. In the case of articles with multiple authors, a maximum of two corresponding email addresses may be provided.
  • Length. A minimum of ten pages and a maximum of twenty are required, including figures, graphs and references.
  • Format. The content must be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 2.5 cm margins and single line spacing. Likewise, page numbers must be placed in the bottom right corner.
  • Title. The title must be written in both Spanish and English, with a maximum of 15 words, and should be succinct, specific, and written with correct and coherent syntax. The use of acronyms should be avoided as much as possible.
  • Authors and co-authors. The information about the authors must include their full names, institutional affiliation (without abbreviations, specifying the city and country) and ORCID.
  • Abstract. The abstract must be written in both Spanish and English, with a maximum of 250 words. It should include the main objective of the research, its scope, a description of the method or methodology used, as well as the most relevant results and conclusions.
  • Keywords. A maximum of six keywords, in alphabetical order, must be provided in both Spanish and English.
  • Subtitles. The categories of titles and subtitles must be clearly differentiated to facilitate editorial composition, and therefore must meet the following characteristics:

Title (level 1): 14-point font, bold, no italics.

Subtitles (level 2): 12-point font, bold, no italics.

Subtitles (level 3): 12-point font, no bold, italics.

Subtitles (level 4): 12-point font, no bold, italics.

  • Explanatory notes. Clarifying notes (such as information about funding, conflict of interest statements, among others) must be placed at the end of the article, before the references, and numbered using arabic numerals.
  • Footnotes. Footnotes should contain supplementary information, explanations or comments, but not bibliographic references.
  • Figures and tables. Unlike tables, which should keep their name (e.g., Table 1), drawings, maps, photographs and graphs should be referred to as figures (e.g., Figure 1). In both cases, elements must be inserted within the document with titles that include their full names, enumeration and source (even if they are self-created, the author and year must be included). Figures and tables must be submitted separately in files labeled with the same title they have in the document, clearly indicating their respective placement in the body of the text. Figures must be provided in JPG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (ppp) and in RGB color space. Tables must be presented with their corresponding title, the source indicated in the footer, all borders visible, and column headers clearly distinguished with bold, and, if necessary, italics.
  • Citations. Citations must be incorporated into the body of the text in accordance with APA Style, 7th edition (https://normas-apa.org/citas/).
  • Bibliographic references. The bibliographic references must appear at the end of the text with hanging indent and organized in alphabetical order. It is important not to abbreviate the names of journals, books, or publishing houses, and to ensure that all URLs are functional. Each reference must follow the guidelines of APA Style, 7th edition. Below is a series of reference examples; if a source has other characteristics, the guidelines established in the official manual must be followed (https://normas-apa.org/referencias/):
  • Book with one author: Boshell-Lee, J.C. (2000). Pensamientos del mañana. Universidad Nacional de la Libertad.
  • Book with two or more authors: Boshell-Lee, J.C., Torres-Menfis, I. y Cutavi-Arias, A.F. (Eds.). (2001). Más pensamientos y discrepancias. Editorial Mancha Pura. *Note: a maximum of nineteen authors may be listed; if there are more than twenty, use ellipsis after the nineteenth name.
  • Book chapter: Boshell-Lee, J.C. (2003).

Institutional Repository of the National University of Libertad. https://...
  • Citations or references of publications by the same author in the same year: if publications by the same author and year are cited, both in the text and in the bibliography, letters should be added in alphabetical order next to the year to differentiate them (e.g., 2010a; 2010b).

  • Whenever possible, URLs are provided in the references.
