Abstract
This essay is aimed at exposing a vision of poverty presented in the last Encyclical Letter issued by Pope Francis, the highest authority of the Catholic Church. Although in appearance, such a document is oriented to question the economic and social order, in the end it is concluded that it does not elaborate a substantive criticism of capitalism and is aligned with previous ecclesiastical documents, in which social justice must be achieved through decent work, charity, solidarity and subsidiarity, leaving the analysis and evaluation of the public sector for a later stage.
