Visual prints of a playful protest

Abstract

The essay uses visual prints to study a march that took place on May 23, 2012. The objective is to paint the picture of just how playful the encounter was and identify the messages that with a festive tone were woven around it. We argue that the communication repertoires of the social protest can be found in photographic form and that these frozen moments constitute material tracks of what happened. To demonstrate it we resort to 19 images taken from a series formed by 54 records in which the lens of a young participant captured different moments of the tour.
