Políticas de arbitraje y publicación

All submissions considered for publication in HArtes journal undergo a review and editing process managed through the OJS platform. This system receives original articles, critical essays, translations, and reviews. In order to determine the viability of a text for publication, all submitted proposals will be evaluated according to their category.

  • First stage: internal evaluation

This is the first stage of the evaluation process, where the Editorial Committee reviews each manuscript to determine whether it fits the journal's areas of interest. Likewise, compliance with the basic requirements and APA 7th Edition Standards is verified.

To ensure the originality of the submissions, all proposals will be processed using the Turnitin software. This will detect plagiarism and similarities, and ensure that the texts are unpublished and that the referenced resources are properly cited. If the analysis yields a match between 15% and 25%, the case will be submitted for internal review with the Advisory Board; the author will be contacted if necessary to make the final decision. If the analysis results in a percentage greater than 30%, it will be rejected, except if it is a text derived from a thesis that has not been previously published in another journal or publisher.

At the conclusion of this first stage, the Editorial Committee will determine the status of the submissions. The decision is final and may end up being one of the following: the submissions might be sent for review, returned for adjustment, or rejected.

Note: If plagiarism is detected after the publication of the corresponding issue, the text will be retracted and will appear on the journal's platform with a watermark declaring the retraction.

  • Second stage: double-blind peer review

At this point, translations and reviews will continue to be processed solely by the journal's Editorial Committee under the status of "submitted for review," while articles and critical essays will continue with the next stage of evaluation to determine their acceptance or rejection.

In the second phase of evaluation, critical articles and essays will be subjected to a double-blind peer review. This method consists of inviting two researchers, experts in the topics addressed in the submitted texts. Once the invitation is accepted, reviewers are asked to conduct a thorough review of the proposed papers. For this purpose, we provide them with a guide containing the criteria of evaluation for manuscripts. Researchers will evaluate the work within a maximum of four weeks and are free to submit, along with their decision and evaluation criteria, the text file with detailed annotations, corrections, and recommendations.

The verdict of the report may be: accepted, accepted with minor corrections, accepted with major corrections, or rejected.

Each project must receive two positive reviews to accept the collaboration and continue to the next stage. If there are discrepancies between the reviewers' recommendations that lead to a tie, the Editorial Committee will ask another expert to issue an opinion to resolve the dispute. If both opinions are negative, the manuscript won't be able to continue with the publication process.

If, due to the lack of participation of reviewers, the manuscript only receives a favorable evaluation and the projected time for review is exceeded (a maximum period of two months is anticipated to complete this process), the author(s) will be notified and, by mutual agreement, their proposal may be considered for evaluation in the next issue. Given this situation, the acceptance opinion obtained in the previous evaluation would already be considered. On the contrary, if only a rejection is received, the Editorial Committee has the authority to review the case and decide whether the text can be considered for the next issue or reject it.

The decision to accept or reject submissions will be the responsibility of the editorial directors, based on and respecting the opinions of the peer reviewers, as well as the suggestions of the Editorial Committee.

The author(s) will be informed of the status of their submission (accepted, accepted with minor corrections, accepted with major corrections, or rejected), and the expert's findings and suggestions will be shared with them. They will be given a period of two to three weeks to submit the essay or article with the appropriate modifications, following the guidelines provided in the review. If this deadline is exceeded without receiving the corrected file, the author will be deemed to have withdrawn from the editorial process.

Note: Throughout the evaluation process we guarantee the anonymity of both parties (author and evaluator).

  • Third stage: review and production

At the end of the evaluation process and upon receiving the submissions with the relevant changes (following the reviewers' recommendations), the style correction will be carried out, followed by the design of the issue. This process involves, first, the review of the text by the journal team and, second, the design of the layout with the respective review of fine proofs.

During the style correction process, the author may request a receipt confirming the journal issue where their contribution will appear, as well as the tentative publication date.

Important note: Acceptance of an evaluated, approved and revised text does not guarantee its immediate publication. The management of HArtes journalreserves the right to make the final decision on publication, taking into account compliance with the deadlines given for the delivery of the necessary adjustments after the reviews and style correction, as well as compliance with the APA 7th Edition Standards and the Code of Ethics throughout the editing process.

  • Fourth stage: signing of transfer of rights and publication

Before formal publication, authors will be provided with the Declaration of Originality, Responsibility for Authorship, Conflict of Interest, and Transfer of Property Rights, which specifies the rights they retain and those they transfer upon publication. The file must be completed, signed, and sent in PDF format along with an official document (ID or passport) that verifies the information (name and signature). Copyright information can be found in the Copyright Policies and Terms of Publication and in the Data Use Privacy Statement.

After the letter has been delivered and ratified, the journal will be published. The publication of the issue will be semiannually, that is, at the end of January or July, as appropriate.
