The difference between “literature” and “literary studies”: un problema epistemológico. (2018). Diseminaciones, 1(2), 51-69. https://revistas.uaq.mx/index.php/diseminaciones/article/view/159

Abstract

In this document I propose an argument that allows delimiting some specificity of the genre “literary studies” in opposition to the genre “literary creation”. It is necessary to emphasize the essential and difference that separates both human praxis; the parameters of literature cannot be the those with which literary studies are built, since they do not pursue the same objective, they do not have the same scheme of thought or expression and do not contribute to the cultural fields in the same way. I am interested in explaining why it is not pertinent for a discipline to be confused with the phenomenon it studies, because it weakens its results. While literature finds its guiding axis in the aesthetic function of an enunciation, literary studies do the epistemic review of that phenomenon.
