Abstract
In this paper we present the results of a proposal to develop algebraic structural sense, abbreviated as structural sense, in high school students in the handling of difference of squares and square of a binomial. Students who have a structural sense perform algebraic tasks in more efficient ways and with fewer errors, therefore, strengthening and promoting the development of structural sense is a relevant issue in the didactics of algebra. The methodology was based on didactic engineering with the Theory of Didactical Situations as a theoretical reference. The activities were carried out by 5 students. The preliminary study suggests the pertinence of this content for the development of the structural sense.
