Paving the Way for a Historical Corpus of Costa Rican Spanish during the Colonial Period

Abstract

The goal of this article is to propose a theoretical-methodological framework in order to build a diachronic corpus of Costa Rican Spanish during the colonial period. Although there are numerous works dedicated to the transcription and edition of Hispano American texts, which have resulted in the conformation of historical corpora, the representation of Costa Rican Spanish is still very low. This is mainly due to the lack of textual databases oriented towards the study of Costa Rican Spanish and its history.
