Abstract

The present work analyzes the recreation of social imaginary that interacts in the urban space through the plastic work of five artists from Holguin in the stage that goes from 1991 to 2011. In the course of twenty years the production of these highlights aspects such as historical memory, kitsch as part of a certain urban folklore, social dynamics in public spaces among others that reveal a complex social plot of changes and rethinking of socio-political discourse and, consequently, of aesthetics. The selected poetics, in the end, become artistic testimony of a recent past stage of the Cuban nation. From the prism of Art History, supported by auxiliary knowledge, it is attributed to reconstructing its history from a local experience.
