Social Sciences and the Criminal Issue in Argentina since 1983

Abstract

In Argentina, the criminal issue has become a recurring topic in various fields such as politics, media, academics, etc. The social sciences have produced a vast production of materials ranging from studies on the police, the perception of social actors about
crime to the ways of making police news in the media. However, there is a lack of jobs that account for this production. As a result, a cartography was obtained on the knowledge that the social sciences have produced on the criminal issue from 1983 onwards in Argentina based on three thematic axes: police, public policies and human security, and media and insecurity.
