Abstract
This is an analysis of the literary work Premio del bien y castigo del mal (1891) by the nineteenth-century Mexican author Refugio Barragán (de Toscano). This analysis will be carried out from the geopolitical theory in order to expose the mechanisms that female characters use to modify their geographical and social location, besides the demystification of gender roles attributed to women. In this work Barragan reveals herself as a transgressive author who proposes to claim the role of women in nineteenth-century Mexican society.
