Abstract
This work aims to revisit a topic that Hispanic philology and classical reception studies have been addressing for over a century. A recapitulation of the most notable issues involved in the study of the reception of the Ilias Latina in medieval Hispanic literature, along with an assessment of its critical history, is complemented by a series of textual analyses. Among these, a comparison of the treatment of the Patroclea episode in the Libro de Alexandre, the Grande e General Estoria, and the Omero romançado is highlighted, juxtaposed with the original Homeric text and the Ilias Latina itself. The goal is to determine the various modes and degrees in which the reception of the Latin epitome is manifested in the works under consideration.
