Diseminaciones (ISSN: 2683-3298) is a peer-reviewed, open-access digital journal published twice a year by the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro through its Facultad de Lenguas y Letras. Its issues appear in January and July of each year and comprise original research articles, essays, interviews, and reviews of relevance to the humanities and social sciences. The journal publishes works in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Each article is evaluated by academic specialists in the field, who issue their assessment through a double-blind process.
Journal History
Diseminaciones arose in 2018 as a joint project of the Secretaría Particular de Rectoría and the Facultad de Lenguas y Letras. It is a peer-reviewed academic journal with a multidisciplinary scope in the humanities and social sciences. Since its founding, the journal has been directed by Dr. Carmen Dolores Carrillo Juárez.
Focus and Scope
Diseminaciones aims to facilitate and foster academic exchange in the humanities and social sciences. The journal seeks to publish original research articles in Spanish, English, and Portuguese from the national and international scholarly community, in order to encourage dialogue and the dissemination of knowledge. Since its inception in 2018, the journal has focused on the humanities and social sciences (literature, philosophy, history, pedagogy, sociology, etc.), as well as on their interdisciplinary connections with other fields of scientific research.
While Diseminaciones first appeared in both print and electronic formats, from its second issue onward it has been published electronically only. The journal offers its contents free of charge, with no restrictions on reading, downloading, or printing the full text. It charges no submission fees and no article processing charges.
Journal Organization
Diseminaciones has an Editorial Committee made up of researchers from the Facultad de Lenguas y Letras of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, together with an external Advisory Board that acts as a consultative body for the journal. The latter is composed of distinguished international researchers.
The main functions of the Editorial Committee are:
- To periodically review and define the journal's editorial criteria.
- To contribute to the planning of each issue of the journal.
- To invite recognized members of the national and international academic community to publish their work.
- To carry out a first reading of the manuscripts received, assess their suitability for the journal and, where appropriate, suggest reviewers according to the subject matter of the text.
- To invite Mexican and foreign researchers to act as referees so as to ensure the quality of the review of the works submitted for publication.
- To promote the dissemination of the journal.
The main functions of the Advisory Board are:
- To make recommendations on editorial policy: to advise the Editorial Committee in defining, debating, and proposing the journal's standards of scientific quality.
- To act as a liaison between the journal and the various groups of researchers.
- To promote the journal in national and international academic circles.
- To collaborate in review tasks and/or volunteer as peers for the review of articles related to their work (by subject), and to support and advise the Editorial Committee in selecting referees for the evaluation of articles.
Digital Preservation Policy
The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro guarantees long-term access to and preservation of the contents published by the journal (articles in PDF and XML-JATS, complete issues, and metadata). Responsibility for preservation lies with the Coordinación de Publicaciones Periódicas —which oversees the Portal de Revistas UAQ— in collaboration with the UAQ's Dirección de Información, Tecnología e Innovación, through the following actions:
- Periodic backups of the site and the database.
- Ongoing monitoring of the technological environment to anticipate security incidents, format migrations, and the updating of obsolete software.
- Use of DOI identifiers (assigned through Crossref) to ensure the traceability of documents.
In addition, Diseminaciones participates in the LOCKSS program, which provides distributed preservation of content through collaborating libraries. The journal publishes in standard formats (PDF and XML-JATS) that favor their interoperability and conservation. This policy is reviewed periodically to keep it up to date.
Use of Interoperability Protocols
This journal manages its editorial process through the Open Journal Systems platform and provides an OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative – Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) interface that allows other portals and information services to access the metadata of the published contents.

- OAI-PMH Protocol, Version 2.0
