Abstract

The article was written in order to analyze the paradigm of sustainable development and of sustainable development and design and compare it with the paradigm of regenerative development and design to find new regenerative solutions that can be applied from the field architecture and help us reduce the environmental impact, it also explains why sustainable architecture is no longer enough in this geological era known as the Anthropocene. We are in an ecological crisis due to the growth model where natural limits are not respected, therefore it is necessary to change the paradigm and understand architecture as a complex system to be able to move from the mechanistic vision to an ecological worldview. And thus to be able to reconceptualize the relationships between human technology and ecological, economic, social, cultural and political systems and with this to be able to propose regenerative sustainability strategies. Regenerative design based on general systems theory helps us with this paradigm shift where buildings are understood as systemic entities; From this, buildings can be designed that educate through demonstration and reconnect with nature to create environmental awareness in people and promote the implementation of regenerative design in Mexico.
