Abstract
In the present work, the first results of the synthesis and functionalization of mesoporous materials of type SBA-16 functionalized with amino groups and their ability to adsorption of Cr (VI) ions in aqueous media are presented and analyzed. The adsorption capacity of the functionalized materials was analyzed by varying the pH of the solution of potassium dichromate dissolved in deionized water at a concentration of 100 ppm of hexavalent chromium. The textural properties and the presence of the amino groups in the adsorbent materials were evaluated by the N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms (SBET), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and to determine the presence of chromium in the adsorbent after adsorption, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was used in the UV-vis range. The results of this characterization indicated that the adsorption of theCr6 + ions occurs between the interaction of
the Cr + 6 ion and the amino groups. Thepure SBA-16 (non-functionalized) does not present adsorption of Cr (VI) ions.
