Abstract
In many Geometry problems, especially those dealing with ratios of segments, it is convenient to find an equivalence between the ratio of the lengths of the segments and the ratio of areas of figures associated to these segments, usually triangles and quadrilaterals. By making the change to a ratio of areas, it is easier to visualize facts and properties that can be fulfilled in our problem at hand.
