Abstract

This essay recounts the paths through which the so-called "cultural history" has traveled. For this objetive, three emblematic authors were selected: Jacob Burckhardt, Marc Bloch and Edward Palmer Thompson, and based on the analysis of their best-known works, they reflected on the most significant conceptions and contributions in relation to the idea of “culture”. Locating the authors in time and space helps to understand why their contributions can be marked as original, as well as to understand differences and similarities between the mentioned authors. It was not intended to be exhaustive in the appraisals but rather to raise some initial
brushstrokes for later, deeper studies.
