Abstract
Language as a cultural element has always been part of human history since its beginnings. While it is an element of exchange, it serves to identify a nation and culture independently of its time. Elio Antonio de Nebrija’s Gramática de la lengua castellana performed two functions: to form a national identity and to teach the romance language. This paper explains the transcendence of this book and its importance during the Vulgar Humanism Age, including its reactions.
