Abstract

The political history of Colombia was characterized at the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century by constant disputes between liberals and conservatives, and by their desire to achieve dominance of State power. Thus, the ideological rivalry of both parties affected the daily lives of Colombians, causing them to identify in political terms with the flagship color, in this case - red or blue - of the party to which they adhered ideologically. In this sense, the objective of this essay is to explain the origins of the National Front (FN) to understand the ideological mechanics of reds and blues in the recovery of state power in the period addressed in the Colombian context.
