Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the obstacles faced by women when exercised their vote for the commissioner election of 2022, for the first time in the community of Ocotequila, which belongs to the town of Copanatoyac, Guerrero. For this analysis, five topics are addressed: women's citizenship, women without citizenship, the genesis of women's suffrage in Mexico, women's political rights, and women's political participation today. The research employs a mixed methodology, for the qualitative scope, statistical data were taken from the Electoral Institute of Citizen Participation of the State of Guerrero (IEPC Guerrero), focused on the results of the elections for commissariat 2022 in the community of Ocotequila, belonging to the municipality of Copanatoyac. In the qualitative scenario, the ethnographic research method was used, likewise an interview was applied to the activist Antonia Ramírez Marcelino, who was the first independent candidate. In this article, it is presumed that the uses and customs of original peoples hinder women's political participation.
