Abstract

The Great Depression in Colombia did not have as deep impact on the economy as in other regions, in fact, it can be considered as a short-lived phenomenon. Through a brief analysis of quantitative information and secondary bibliography, primarily, the aim of this essay is to demonstrate how the Great Depression created an environment conducive to the development of financial practices that achieved a brief economic recession and future growth and industrial development in the Colombian economy of the decade of the 30s. The Crisis of the 29th caused a decrease in the GDP only for the years 1929 to 1931 and generated spaces of diversification and development for the Colombian hacienda.
