Abstract
With the help of Mary Douglas’ theories (in anthropology) about the symbolism behind alternative medicine from different contexts, and with an interpretative point of view about this cultural phenomenon through the ethnographic use; this article aims to interpret the importance of this practices in Villa Juárez, SLP due to different social events. The data shows the relevance about this knowledge present in a rural context with medical services shortage also with a great rating of violence, in which health care available methods are the herbalist, curandería and sobandería, which are mixtures between natural methods and religious,
which are achieved with energy. We conclude the necessity of keep transmitting this knowledge who forms part of the Deep México.
