Abstract
This article discusses the importance of political theory in the research made by the historian and political scientist Arnaldo Córdova about the Mexican Revolution in the seventies. Through the problematization of some works of the author, it is possible to view the construction of a research track in which political theory, philosophy of law and history are instruments to explain the foundation of the State and the exercise of political power. The preceding lines help sustain that Arnaldo Córdova is one of the most original contemporary thinkers of political inquiry and influential in the public and academic debate in Mexico.
